Sir Tīmoti Kāretu retires from Waimarama kura reo
Known as the godfather of te reo Māori by some, Sir Tīmoti Kāretu has dedicated his life to the revival of te reo Māori, establishing the first state-funded kura reo at Waimarama Marae 30 years ago. Now he's decided this year’s kura reo will be his last there. He spoke to Hania Douglas - Te Karere about the changes he's seen in that time and the ongoing challenge of encouraging the survival of the language.
